Summary

Responsible for preparing estimates and proposals for bid packages for high purity process equipment. This includes direct contact with the YMC sales team, potential clients, engineering companies, subcontractors and vendors. Prefer related experience in design/build of high purity piping or skid manufacturing in at least one of the following categories: biopharmaceutical equipment, clean industrial equipment, chemical processing, semiconductor or food and beverage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fixed price estimates for both standard platform and custom designed systems.
  • Review Request for Quotations including drawings, specifications and data sheets. Must be able to read P&IDs
  • Generate list of exceptions and clarifications related to customer provided specifications
  • Solicit quotations for materials and subcontract services
  • Prepare detailed estimates using an Excel based estimate engine
  • Maintain standard pricing in the estimate engine
  • Prepare documentation for transfer to Project Managers upon bid award. Interface with project management to establish and maintain estimating standards (manpower and materials) for selected products and unit operations
  • Work with the Engineering group during the bid process
  • Work with the Estimating Engineer during the bid process and prioritize their work
  • Develop proposals for YMC Engineering and technical services
  • Generate spare parts pricing and proposals
  • Develop proposals and pricing for the YMC Cube product line
  • Maintain data base for the Cube systems in service and manage the service of existing systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Bioengineering (or a related field)
  • 5–10 years of relevant professional experience

Required Experience and Knowledge

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common engineering documents, such as schematics, P&IDs, general arrangement and other affiliated drawings and/or documents
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, clients, and team members
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Familiar with basic operating principles of valves, instruments, pumps and control systems
  • Familiar with basic fabrication methods such as welding and pipe fitting
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as user requirement specifications, mechanical specifications, electrical specifications, data sheets, vendor quotes and cut sheets, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project

Preferred Skill and Experience

  • Understanding of ASME-BPE standards and codes
  • Understanding of CFR 21, part 11 as it relates to GMP compliance
  • Understanding of international design codes such as CE marking, PED and CB Scheme
  • Understanding of electrical controls, wiring, power and control panel design
  • Understanding of shipping and freight Incoterms
