Summary
The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Sales Order Entry, Purchasing, Inventory/Production Control, and Logistics areas while also occasionally functioning as a buyer for high-value, critical materials and new product introductions.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with engineering, project management, and production to ensure material availability aligns with build schedules and project milestones.
- Lead negotiations on all significant contracts to secure the most advantageous commercial, pricing and legal terms.
- Participate in the onboarding process for new Customers and Vendors ensuring consistency, accuracy and completeness. Key driver of ERP system optimization by enforcing ERP standards and accuracy.
- Establish, calculate and monitor appropriate KPIs for the purchasing, logistics, and sales order entry groups
- Proactively work with Sales and Engineering to identify and mitigate potential inventory obsolescence risks.
- Ensure that both internal and external customers receive the highest level of service and operational integrity
- Optimize material control and management practices for a mixed environment of pick/ship, make-to-order and make-to-stock orders.
- Ensure process adherence for sourcing, purchase order placement/management and supplier quality requirements as they relate to compliance with the Quality Mgt System.
- Visit critical suppliers as necessary to conduct audits, supplier scorecard reviews and build relationships with vendor contacts (<5%).
- Build, lead, and retain a high-performing team of supply chain and customer order entry professionals who thrive in a results-driven environment.
- Oversee import/export processes and ensure compliance with all trade regulations and restrictions.
- Explores new technologies/processes and the current ERP’s underutilized capabilities to improve the efficiency of order entry, procurement, planning and material management.
Required Experience and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of Supply Chain or Purchasing experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- History of success in vendor negotiation, relationship management, and supplier performance improvement initiatives.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning).
- Strong understanding of Production Control, Material Planning and Master Scheduling best practices.
- Extensive exposure to the Order Fulfilment cycle, from Quote to Shipment.
- Prior experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong analytical abilities and a process-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Sets a high standard for attention to detail, both personally and for all direct reports and peers.
- Exposure to International Shipping rules and regulations.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities in a fast paced, fluid environment.
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems and purchasing/sales order workflows using mid-market ERP’s (Acumatica, NetSuite, Epicor, Dynamics, etc.)
- Advanced MS Excel skills are necessary.
Preferred Skill and Experience
- Lean Manufacturing/ Lean Six Sigma and 5S experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- APICS (CSCP or CPIM) certification strongly preferred.
