Making Peptide Purification Green without Forfeiting Productivity.

While green solvents like ethanol and DMC are better for the planet, they typically suffer from lower chromatographic resolution in traditional setups. This has resulted in a trade-off of choosing sustainability, or choosing high yield.

The whitepaper Counter-Current Chromatography Enables Use of Green Solvents for Productive Peptide Purification Processes shows how using Multi-column Counter-current Solvent Gradient Purification (MCSGP) can overcome the inefficiencies of eco-friendly mobile phases.

This whitepaper shows the results utilizing MCSGP on two real-world medicines (Tirzepatide and Tetracosactide). By combining the eco-friendly cleaners with this multi-column system, the results were:
► Tirzepatide (using Ethanol/Acetic Acid): Achieved 88.1% yield at 89.0% purity, while boosting productivity to 6.3 g/L_resin/h.
► Tetracosactide (using DMC/Acetic Acid): Reached a remarkable 93.8% yield at 94.0% purity—proving that green chromatography can meet or even exceed traditional batch performance.

Learn more about phasing out forever chemicals, shrinking the waste footprint, and hitting high target yields.

Happy Retirement, John!

Today, we are celebrating John Heffernan, who is officially stepping into retirement after 16 years with YMC America. John’s journey with us actually began back when we were known as Integrated Process Technologies, long before we transitioned to YMC America. Over the years, John has worn many hats, from Project Manager to Estimating Manager, Engineering Manager, and ultimately Director of Business Development.
